PICTURES ARE STORIES THAT DON'T NEED TO BE TOLD BY WORDS

Photojournalism Assignment

Photo Description #1- When walking around the craziness of a huge city, sometimes it is beneficial to stop and look up because then you’ll capture an image such as this one in a fresh and new way. This image was taken while walking around and exploring the beautiful city of Boston, Massachusetts.

Photo Description #2- They say a dog is a man’s best friend. Well, this image captures that friendship. The boy is my younger brother Joshua, who at the time of the picture was 12 or 13 (he is now 15). The dog next to my brother is our family dog, and her name is Marcie. I had him pose with my dog for a photography assignment, but I did not pose how both seem to be looking in the same direction. It shows the bond between boy and dog and it is a beautiful thing to capture.

Photo Description #3- This was taken on a farm at a pumpkin patch. The day was a breezy one (hence the hair in Megan’s face). The beautiful girl is my younger sister Megan who was 14 or 15 at the time (but is now 18). Pumpkins are not light, and so when Megan put this on head she felt the weight immediately, which made her a bit unstable.

Photo Description #4- This is actually a merge of two photos that was edited in Adobe Photoshop. I took both pictures at the Flight 93 Memorial in Pennsylvania. Putting the flag image on top of the September 11, 2001 wall image made the date stand out even more. 9/11 will always be a day of remembrance for every single American.

Photo Description #5- Taken in Washington DC at the National Cathedral, this was beautiful moment caught on camera. I took this photo on a photography field trip my senior year of high school. The girl was one of my fellow classmates and friend at the time. Her name is Morgan. I can’t say I remember exactly what she was staring at, but I know it had to do with the majestic Cathedral.

Photo Description #6- The woods are almost always a peaceful environment, and yet sometimes they can feel isolating too. The forest was actually quite beautiful in color, but I chose to edit it in black and white because it told the story of ‘a peaceful isolation’ better. If the picture had been in color, it would have told a different story.
