Psalms
1:1-3 says, (1) “Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the
wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. (2) But
his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and
night. (3) He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields fruit in
season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers.”
This
is a beautiful passage of scripture because it paints a visual image of a
sturdy and fruitful tree planted in a stream of rushing waters. A man (or
woman), who does not walk with the wicked or listen to foolish advice, but who
instead, studies and pours over the scriptures is like the tree planted in the
water. Storms will come, causing rushing waters, and torrential winds, but if
the tree is rooted in the stream, it will stay strong and continue to grow. In
the same way, a man or woman, who stays rooted in God’s Word, will grow
spiritually stronger every day. When the trials and tribulations come, when the
world tries to knock you down, or when Satan tries to attack your faith, you
will not fade because your roots lie within scripture. The more you dig and
mediate on God’s Word, the more your fruit will show, and you will be blessed
with prosperity.
